If you can leave a char fishing overnight (with the free 10-day fishing pole and 500 baits from the daily mission), getting 4k adena is not hard.

The last cake did not disappear, it still had more than a half of HP at the moment of the server shutdown (5 minutes after the cake appeared). But the game was lag-free (you could target and move without a perceived lag).

Assuming 4k bots per servers, 40 hours per week of work, it means that you need to ban 100 bots per hour without accidentally banning legit players. Are you sure you are that fast? Are you sure you will actually be able to ban 4k bots manually before quitting your unpaid "job"? And how fast do you think botters can create new botting accounts?

Just level another character to 20 on the same account and use Dimensional Merchant to transfer the set.

And how many bots do you think you can ban per hour without false-positives and with proper evidence when the banned one complains?

Not necessarily. The last (unfinished because of restart) cake on Giran was lag-free, although its HP was reducing quite fast. If the cake's reward doesn't attract so many bots, it won't be necessarily laggy.

Get a free newbie pack from L2 store, use dual weapons from it, do 2 newbie quests that bring you to 20, head to AC and just farm for adena drops. You can also do fishing at night with a free 10-day pole you get from the quest and 500 baits you get from the daily fishing mission (depending on fish price on your server, using fish shots can pay off). Then start trading.

You can blame whoever you want, but will it help? In case of NCsoft, the only party that is worth blaming is yourself.

No, it doesn't force me to buy adena. In fact, I make adena while farming with shots (those are non-blessed D-grade spiritshots in a B-grade location, but the game has a ridiculously boosted MP regen compared to the original L2, so I can afford them MP-wise).

What do you mean by my "obsession with bots"? Leveling with a CDL DD box, I actually find bots around me handy.

Not in my experience (Hindemith C4 and later through all the server mergers till the end of p2p). Do you realize that if the lowbie catas were added now, you would find no room with free mobs at all?

They were mistaken. The XP curve change in Lineage 2 is never applied retroactively (it is meant for people to catch up).
