You should be able to get the items in the game from playing the game full stop. As long as it is within reach with the subscription I think it makes sense. But yeah free to play has messed up the whole mmo industry. I mean they had as many subscribers now as they did before GoD during Freya if not more. Now they bring in alot from the l2 store. But. It keeps the servers populated.
