  1. also, they have fixed the bug where you used to teleport to one of four random locations when using an SoE in the abyss zones. Now SoE brings you back to the main room you ported in from, which is the expected behavior, nice fix!
  2. Update: Looks like an undocumented change, but it seems they modified the Spellbook Chest that you get from the Abyss quests in Aden, so now they give a random chance of any spellbook needed for the second classes (lvl 40 to 75). This opens up the option for new players to do Abyss quests as a daily source of income from selling spellbooks, and makes keeping a bulk inventory of spellbooks for clans much easier.
  3. Just wanted to say kudos for the implementation of the attendance event. I was concerned that it was going to end during maintenance the previous week and no one would have had a chance to get the last item, because the attendance check time was not the typical daily check start time. By extending it for a week longer than the minimum, you save yourself a lot of headache from player complaints if the wrong time of day is accidentally chosen. Generally speaking, it's a good idea to allow the players more opportunities than are needed to get the complete set of items, because real life happens; not everyone can log in every single day for a month straight. I think there have been some complaints about the mission reward system along the same lines, not enough wiggle room to miss a day.
  4. Dwarves may find this list of "essential" recipes useful. It is recommended that you have the level 1 recipes registered, even if you are leveling a Bounty Hunter, because it can help with inventory management, and free up your Warsmith’s book for more important recipes. Goblin Lookout is near Dark Elf Village, Goblin Scout is near Talking Island Village, Kaboo Orcs are near Elven Village, Rakeclaw Imp Hunter is near Orc Village, Garum Werewolf/Utuku Orc Archer is near Dwarven Village. Level 1 Recipe: Cokes ( DROP = Kaboo Orc, 8 / SPOIL = Rakeclaw Imp Hunter, 7 ) Level 1 Recipe: Coarse Bone Powder ( DROP = Garum Werewolf, 9 / SPOIL = Utuku Orc Archer, 8 ) Level 1 Recipe: Durable Braid ( DROP = Goblin Scout, 8 / SPOIL = Goblin Scout, 8 ) Level 1 Recipe: Leather ( DROP = Goblin Lookout, 8 / SPOIL = Kaboo Orc, 8 ) Level 1 Recipe: Steel ( DROP = Rakeclaw Imp Hunter, 7 / SPOIL = Garum Werewolf, 9 / Goblin Lookout, 8 ) For the Level 2 recipes, you will have an easier time with some of the drop locations, because the risk of out-leveling the mob before you get the drop is much lower than for the Level 1 recipes. Cord, High-grade Suede and Synthetic Braid recipes drop near the Kameal Village; these recipes can easily be found by auto-hunting for drops in the starting area. Level 2 Recipe: Cord ( DROP = Mountain Werewolf, 16 / SPOIL = Langk Lizardman Warrior, 17 ) Level 2 Recipe: High-grade Suede ( DROP = Muertos Warrior, 17 ) Level 2 Recipe: Synthetic Braid ( DROP = Muertos Captain, 18 / SPOIL = Scarlet Salamander, 17 ) Level 2 Recipe: Silver Mold ( DROP = Lirein Elder, 19 / SPOIL = Scavenger Bat, 18 ) Level 2 Recipe: Varnish of Purity ( DROP = Stink Zombie, 19 / SPOIL = Lirein Elder, 19 ) Level 2 Recipe: Steel Mold ( DROP = Whinstone Golem, 14 / SPOIL = Stink Zombie, 19 ) Level 2 Recipe: Synthetic Cokes ( DROP = Gora Werewolf, 16 / SPOIL = Whinstone Golem, 14 ) Level 4 recipes are where it gets difficult. Some of these are the hardest items to get in game because there is a real chance of out-leveling them before you get the item. Recipe: Reinforced Metal Plate can only be spoiled from one mob near the orc starter village, and there are only six of them in game (four in immortal plateau, southern region, and two more a bit north, under the bridge). The problem with this mob is that the re-spawn time is three times longer than normal mobs, because Ragna Orc Prefect used to be a quest mob. They added drops to it when they revamped the drops in Cruma. Recipe: Metal Hardener is problematic because it is drop-only, from a mob that may take a party to efficiently kill, which are spaced few and far between. Recipe: Metallic Thread only drops from one mob in the game, and the Elder Tyrants are few and far between, in the vicinity of the “Contrapposto Man” statue, and another group just west of the “Skeleton Mercenary Island” (aka right on top of the “W” in Wasteland). While you are in this region, take the opportunity to spoil the Tyrants for Recipe: Artisan's frame. Note that Metallic Fiber is NOT the same thing as Metallic Thread. Level 4 Recipe: Artisan's frame ( DROP = Leto Lizardman Warrior, 38 / SPOIL = Tyrant, 35 ) Level 4 Recipe: Blacksmith' frame ( SPOIL = Marsh Stakato Soldier, 33 ) Level 4 Recipe: Crafted Leather ( DROP = Leto Lizardman Soldier, 37 / SPOIL = Dire Wyrm, 42 ) Level 4 Recipe: Metal Hardener ( DROP = Lord of the Plains, 40) Level 4 Recipe: Metallic Fiber ( DROP = Elder Tyrant, 36 / SPOIL = Ant Warrior Captain, 36 ) Level 4 Recipe: Metallic Thread ( DROP = Elder Tyrant, 36 ) Level 4 Recipe: Mithril Alloy ( DROP = Breka Orc Prefect, 35 ) Level 4 Recipe: Oriharukon ( SPOIL = Manashen Gargoyle, 40 ) Level 4 Recipe: Reinforced Metal Plate ( SPOIL = Ragna Orc Prefect, 40 )
  5. Only use blunt on mobs that are weak to blunt weapons. On all other mobs, a sword will get more crits and thus do more damage. This is true unless you have reliably capped out the 500 (50%) crit rate on your weapon (without using soul crystals) because when a blunt does crit, it has a slightly higher damage variance that makes it do slightly more than the sword; this is offset by the new toggle skill that generally makes swords do more damage than blunts, so long story short ... use a sword.
  6. Clans are cheap, you can make your own clan so you can buff your toons with OL. You can have 10 accounts and only 9 people in a party, but OL can buff from out-of-party. So instead of building one toon, think about the composition of the entire party, maybe with a WC always in-party, and the OL providing out-of-party buffs during raids, and/or swapping out with some other class in the party that can solo effectively. If you only have one computer, you can still do parties of 5 toons, and mix it up with clan members when they are available.
  7. Frenzy wasn't eliminated; it was split into Frenzy and Zealot, and was just nerfed again (along with Guts and Over the Body) during the 16MAY23 maintenance on L2 Classic. If you want to do AOE, play Warlord instead of Destroyer/Warsmith/Bounty Hunter. With the Destroyer route (including the recent update) even at high levels you would have to wait 5 minutes between mob pulls. Each time they nerf Destroyer/Titan it's usually because people are using some non-standard weapon (dagger/bow/spear/blunt) but they don't understand that the flexibility to use a variety of weapons is something that distinguishes the class from being a simple one-trick pony, and separates L2 from other games where your weapon selection is hard-coded to your class selection.
  8. You can get weapon varnish in the Elemental Raids and use those to upgrade a higher grade weapon +9 for a lower grade weapon +7, something like that. You can also do random craft to try and get some weapons, but that's mostly for item collections. There is no penalty on L2 Classic for using weapons of a higher grade than your level, so there isn't much reason to use B grade or lower gear. Skip to top A grade weapon, enchant safely (or with a backup) until you get to +16, and work on an S grade weapon that you wont use until you get it to +12 or higher, because the S grade weapon will take more soul shots/spirit shots to use.
  9. /agree with kes1 and XSovereignX. The L2 Russian Legacy server seems very accurate, but due to translation errors it may be hard to find what you are looking for. You can translate your search into Russian and then paste it into the search bar, but even then it's a bit like bailing water with a spoon (and I don't think this is a proper forum to include links to those resources). One of the largest benefits of being in a clan is that people in the clan can share information with each other (e.g. Discord) and the lack of clear data on L2 Classic creates an environment where there are still some mysteries to be uncovered. So maybe not "working as intended" but more like "the lack of information is not intentional but it seems to be creating a reason for people to join clans, so don't break it".
  10. In some places in game, there are mobs that have the same artwork as other mobs but they have different names (i.e. Giant Monster Eye in Sea of Spores); there are also some places where the mobs have the same name but look slightly different (ghosts in forest of mirrors). Each mobs has its own list of drops and spoils (some of which are empty lists). For the spellbook "Summon Aqua Cubic" you are correct, the Reinforced Monster Eye (lvl 41, Ivory Tower Crater) is the most likely candidate for the drop, although I don't have a screenshot to verify it. It is not an elusive mob, but it is well-farmed, so maybe someone who is killing faster than you is grabbing up the books. This mob should also drop the following spellbooks: "Spirit Sharing" and "Spirit Barrier" (you need to kill about 2,000 mobs to get a book) and parts of square shield and plate helmet (you can use these more common drops to semi-verify that you are on the right mob). Hunting for books is a good way to make adena at the early levels, especially when there is a spike in long-term players re-rolling alternative characters. However, for your first character, seriously consider if you really need the spellbook; if it's not a core skill for a buffing class, chances are you can get by without it, level up and keep a reinforced eye on the market to see if anyone sells it in the future. Once you have a decent weapon, you can try leveling alternate elf characters to level 40 and then deleting them. Each time you do the second class transfer you get one spellbook from that race, and it's guaranteed that you get 1 spellbook, just maybe not the one you are looking for right now. There should be 15 or 16 spellbooks for elves, so that's like a 7% chance each time you get an elf to level 40. Another option is to ask your clan if they have the book; the larger your clan, the more options there may be for gifts/trade of spellbooks. One last option is to complete the daily quest(s) in Aden from Officer Tores (if you are level 45 you can do both, once per day). Each time you complete one of these quests, you have a roughly 3% chance of getting a spellbook chest. Unfortunately, those spellbook chests do not seem to have the spellbook you are looking for (Fell Swoop, Immortal Life, Break Duress, Shield Deflect Magic, Aegis, Hide, Mystic Immunity, Divine Power, Advanced Block, Stigma of Shilen, Ritual of Life, Pa'agrio's Honor, Chant of Movement). Note: It would be nice if they would re-evaluate the rewards from the Abyss quests so that if you got a spellbook chest you would get to choose one specific spellbook to get (from the total list of second class spellbooks available). Implementation details: instead of opening the item like a box, trade it to Lorenzo in Aden for a dialogue-based selection menu.
  11. Correction: The activation of Guts and Frenzy is working at 60%, but these skills light up at 90% to indicate that they are useable, instead of lighting up at 60%. It still indicates that no one did the minimum amount of testing for this change to be implemented. If you're looking for ideas for future updates, how about bringing back system messages? Or as Karioli suggested, identify places where small class changes can be made that will reinforce core character concepts.
  12. Please stop invalidating previous player gains; like releasing a Mother's Day event with an xp item that reduces xp for anyone that has been playing since last Halloween. It's been a couple days since the update, but I agree with the previous posts. Not sure who asked for the update to "Titan" skills, but it doesn't benefit Lineage2 or NCSoft. Like removing teleport books and scrolls from the NCoin store; you're damaging your own sales. There is an expression like "don't cook the goose that lays the golden eggs", but for some reason there seems to be a rash of companies doing that lately. You have a game of 3-dimensional intangible paper dolls, and your business model is a cash cow that is willing to pay you for more intangible fancy dress-up options. You can milk that cash cow by introducing new shiny items, like Frintezza Necklace Lvl 5, but when adding items to this localized version of the game, please be good stewards and consider what other items have been previously added. Like when you add a new type of cloak to game that invalidates the previous cloak, at least give players an option to trade the old item in to make some progress on the new one (https://forums.lineage2.com/topic/26594-new-cloak-exchange-proposal/) (https://forums.lineage2.com/topic/26593-the-news-cloak/) the key is to avoid making the players feel like they have lost something when the new shiny thing rolls out; it doesn't really matter if the new shiny thing is "better" or not. In regards to the changes to "Titan" skills, some of which are Grand Khavatari skills (https://forums.lineage2.com/topic/26792-titan-class-changes-05162023/) i'm not concerned about players quitting/rerolling over this change, I'm concerned that you are erasing their willingness to seek better gear, and thus, removing motivation to purchase NCoins. You're marketing person should have veto-ed this change. Class changes are generally not needed or wanted. The audience of people playing on Classic are probably here because they didn't like the changes that were made to the classes on the Live version of the game, so there is a high risk of ostracizing your entire player base when you make class changes. If class changes must be done, at least keep them in-line with the original concepts of the class. Destroyer/Titan players want to feel strong, especially in PvE. The signature skills of the class trade hp loss for attack benefit. Do not remove the core concept of a class because you introduced a shiny item that makes that concept very powerful; just do some careful consideration before adding the shiny item. For this situation, Frintezza Necklace Lvl 5 is already out there, so I can see why a change might be needed. Do some careful consideration of the change you want to implement: instead of shutting off cooldowns on a handful of random skills, a "cooldown resistance" on the Zealot skill would have been sufficient; no other changes needed for other skills. Let's say I have a 40% cooldown reduction on skills because of my collection of shiny items from several years of events and fighting bosses, and the Zealot skill cooldown is only affected by 75% of that, so the cooldown is reduced by 30% instead of 40%. This sort of change does not invalidate all of the work of the players; if anything, it requires them to work a bit harder to get the effect they are looking for. The resulting offset of cooldown timer between Zealot and Frenzy means that Titan players have a hard decision to make: either they use Zealot as often as possible, or they wait patiently for Zealot to refresh so that they can combine it with Frenzy. Meanwhile, Grand Khavatari players would see a bit of a nerf but they are in the same situation as the Titan players in terms of gear: if you want to use this skill more often, you need to work that much harder after the change. Also, the skill changes as implemented do not match the skill descriptions. Changing to Frenzy and Guts to a 90% hp limit was a bad class change, because it deviates from the core concept of the class. After the most recent changes, the limit for these skills is still set to 90%, and has not been changed to 60% (where it should be, based on the patch notes and the core class concept). So please, when you make changes to the game, be good stewards and test the changes that you are implementing. The last time I submitted a bug report, I included some details about where to find and fix a buffer overload issue, but I'm not going to do the job of a tester for you; as a player I'm here to relax and be entertained. You should have at least one person on your team with the sole job of testing things; sometimes people get tasked out to do things that are not their actual job and the whole game ends up suffering for it. Also, because I don't post often, I'd like to point out that I'm not going to "@" anyone on this post, because I'm not trying to complain. I'm trying to provide some helpful criticism in regards to an issue that I am concerned about. I would not be concerned about such things if I did not care about the future viability of the game. All the people on the forums name dropping notifications of every GM that ever was; ya'll a bunch of infradible frimsicles.
  13. The design of this event was great, but a few players ruined it for everyone else. The only way I can see NCSoft salvaging this is as the end of the event to announce that it was a ploy to catch cheaters. e.g. "The accounts associated with the following characters have been banned for use of third-party tools to cheat at the Steel Guild Event <name of highest level too on each banned account>". GMs have tools to see who won which items, and logs that show when the keys were turned in. The data is there, you just have to look at it.
