seriously . . . how about an event where we don't get forked*
no mater, taking the server down at the start of the raid is in poor taste and it does indicate that . . . well, it indicates what NCSoft thinks of it's players.
there must be 400 people currently in Elven Village on Aden atm waiting for the cake. It would be thoughtful to allow the cake to spawn this final time. What would be the harm in allowing it to spawn vs. the harm of all of the players that have massed here and are waiting.

There will be an unscheduled maintenance starting at 12:00 p.m. PDT / 21:00 GMT+2. The downtime will approximately be 30 minutes.
The following changes will be made to the 15th Anniversary event with this maintenance:
- The Cake Raid event in Elven Village will be removed along with the Fifteen NPC after issues were found with the event contributing to high server latency and NPC server crashes
- The 15th Anniversary Gift Box (x2) will be added to the L2 Store for FREE until 7/10 and can be claimed once per day per account
- We have added a 150% XP/SP server boost setting for the rest of the event period
why not wait 30 minutes longer? There are 100s of players that have made arrangements to get on at the time you are bringing servers down and giving us on Aden so short notice . . .
Update - the surprise of the new launcher sucked.
But the new launcher is very good.
seriously??
P.S. it's not a good thing to do during an event with timed mechanics such as the cake raid. I started logging in my desired accounts 40 minutes before time and it looks like I will miss the raid because of this forced download/update.
Will we have to ask for compensation where players made arrangements to make the raid or will it be given freely somehow so people that missed the raid because of the download still receive reward?
what's up with the new NCSoft Launcher? I had toons logged in and got ready to log in another one today and now have to to a new download for a New NCSoft Launcher.
What gives?
It's Memorial Day weekend, how about an impromptu event!

For once in history, if NCSoft would bring back the cake and said, "Let them eat cake" instead of loosing your heads, you would have the opposite affect and the community would rejoice! Come on, use this opportunity to change history!
On the flip side, 50% xp will ensure a NCSoft legacy of the same as the ill spoken person who was attributed of saying let them eat cake.
Our NCStaff and Marie Antoinette will have the same thing in common. She didn't say it and NCStaff didn't make the mess, but both are taking the hit for it.
