  1. @iAndouille I think you would do a good job of balancing the game and some of the mechanics. You might even like Austin.
  2. @Wissp I sincerely hope that after this announcement that you and your team, as well as NC are truly behind your words. If not, that will be the straw that broke the camel's back. There is a reason why players are disillusioned. In fact, there are many reasons why. But the biggest reason why is because we no longer have lines of communication that function. The vast majority of gamers are tech savvy, information savvy, rely heavily on data, and truly want to enjoy the experience. I can't speak for everyone that plays, just myself. Having said that I believe that what players want most of all is something I and others have mentioned. That is, "reasonable rewards for reasonable effort." It doesn't take a degree in physics to figure out what that means. Nobody is going to be motivated by making no progress for months on end. It should cost us the equivalent of a nice night out on the town for most, or a pair of concert tickets for others, to be able to enjoy the game. It shouldn't cost us the equivalent of a car payment or even a mortgage payment to realize advancement in a "game." So a few suggestions. Fix the drop rates. Nice items should drop at a higher rate than "0". Fix the enchant system because you broke it. It's worse than the lottery. Reintroduce regular free events that can actually drop useful and needed items. And finally, provide decent information on the game. The vague information that is provided right now is useless. The bottom line is this ... all we want is for you and NC to do the right thing for the fans of this game who have stuck with you for half a lifetime. Is that so hard?
  3. While disappointing that the game anniversary came and went already, at least they are "catching up." My only observation is ... if you have to pay for it, it's not really a gift, is it? While it's not much, it's a far cry from the "1 adena" promotions in the past. And from a marketing perspective it would have been more appropriate to call it a promotion or discount, not a gift. Just saying
  4. It's difficult to add anything of value since most of the posts offer insights that you should listen to. I will sum it up in one sentence ... The game would be more enjoyable if a reasonable amount of effort resulted in a reasonable reward. Enough said.
  5. And here I thought you were at least trying to be reasonable. I was wrong. Players are just voicing their frustrations with what is obviously a problem. Try giving them a break ... and support, as it applies to everyone who plays the game. Unless of course, that you could care less about the game, then your comments would make sense. Some of us still care.
  6. You last statement is more reasonable. I have been waiting all year, since the last event of this type, just to have the opportunity to upgrade. I was willing to drop a reasonable amount of $$ to make it happen. But at 120B each for 120 claws on top of what I've saved all year for the trillions in mats required, makes it unreachable for me. This needs to be fixed.
  7. I'm sorry, but your assessment just doesn't align with reality. This game is, by design, an MMO. That means that it requires players to make the game work the way it was intended. It's supposed to be ENTERTAINMENT. It's not supposed to be an environment that to enjoy it you have to invest tens of thousands of dollars just to be able to kill the mobs at your level. As stated hundreds of times by hundreds of LOYAL players, the prices of items offered by NCWest, as differentiated from other servers, is INSANE. It should not cost the equivalent of a mortgage payment to make and upgrade a single piece of armor to a level that, when combined with all the other items you need, you won't die from mobs that are white to you. The list of what you need, from artifacts to augments, can be very, very costly. What people pay for items between players is their business, but the ingame NCStore is unreachable by most, thereby limiting the enjoyment and participation of the vast majority of players. Also, since drops don't support the acquisition of these items, it's up to NC to fix. Other MMOs at least make an attempt to KEEP their player base happy. In my view, there can't be too many Dragon Weapons because without them you generally can't do enough damage to make the game playable and progress. Furthermore, if you look at the laundry list of items needed to effectively survive in the game is very long. Therefore, everyone should have the ability to gear up and play. Your comments are unrealistic in that it in fact keeps those who have these items the only ones that are able to enjoy it. To be clear, I'm not suggesting that it be a cake walk. But paying $12,000 or more for enough dragon claws to upgrade a weapon IS insane. That doesn't include the trillions of adena needed for the materials required. If you can't see that you are part of the problem in my humble opinion.
  8. Auto-pickup works now in 115 area of Jamoas Camp (Blazing Swamp). It's not working in 115 area of Fioren's Crystal Prison. That's why the scabs on hanging around in Alligator Island. To pickup the drops that are not being auto-pickup there. Please fix this too.
  9. It can't be a hard drive issue because the same thing is happening to me. I have a new PC with only L2 installed. Abundant space available but takes 4-6 attempts to get the launcher to proceed.
  10. I think same thing happening on AI through Fioren's Crystal Prison. Funny thing is, I didn't notice any drops, but some random toon was there, DE in shadow, periodically moving from spot to spot within mob circle. It seemed like they were picking something up, but I didn't see them move and didn't see the item. I don't have any lag, so it wasn't that. I could see no other reason for a random toon to bounce around in the small circle I was hunting in a appearing to be wasting time. Toon never responded to my pms even though it was moving around. Not walking normally, just popping from spot to spot with no movement. Glitch or 3rd party program? If nothing drops there, what were they doing? Dumb to waste instance time like that, so figured there must be a reason I'm not aware of. Could it be a residual image of the person there before me, for one hour? Weird.
  11. @Wissp While I appreciate that the team is taking the time to communicate with the player base, and that attempts are being made to adjust some prices in the Night Market Coin event, I can't help but wonder what metrics you are using to determine pricing in the game. Let's do a little math and make some real world comparisons based on what we find out. At current pricing, Ncoin costs $100US for 8,000. That means 200 night coins cost $9US. If you apply that to a Shining Gran Kain Weapon Enchant Scroll, that translates to $31.50US for each scroll. Let's apply that to a reasonable scenario. There are an abundance of +20 R110 Limited weapons on the server due to the +20 limit on the normal Gran Kain scrolls. So if I want to go above +20, I get to pay $31.50US for "a chance" to increase the level of the weapon by +1. With the current enchant system, that means that realistically it takes 10 attempts for each +1, or $315US. And if my goal is a +30 weapon, I will have to spend $3,150US for a reasonable chance to achieve that. For conversation purposes, I can imagine that there isn't one employee on your team that would pay $3,150US for an opportunity to get a +30 weapon in a game like Lineage 2. You'd have better odds in Vegas. Which is my point to pass along to you and your teammates. The L2 Community is complaining because the pricing is insane. It is clearly not affordable for the vast majority of the community. And given the continuing evolution of the game, i.e., better AI and increased elements on mobs, etc., having a +30 weapon is only one small piece of what's required for a player to enjoy the game over level 110. I wrote about that in my open letter last week. I cannot speak for everyone in the game. However, I consider myself to be a thoughtful and reasonable person. What the L2 Community is asking of you is to also be that same person. I gave you one example. Times that by every item and skill in the game. The aggregate cost to play is currently off the charts. Which is why the community is so unhappy. I'd like for you to communicate how you are making needed changes a reality for us. On a final note ... we ARE in a recession which will drive more frustration. Thank you.
  12. First, I would like to say that I have always been a fan of the world of Lineage ever since I began playing Lineage I in 1999. The real life friends I have made through the game will endure long after we dismount and hang up our weapons for good. Having played a wide variety of MMOs on the market over the years, Lineage II is by far one of the most visually stunning games on the market. It continues to be my “go to” recreation when I want to de-stress from a long day at work. Second, I cannot speak for everyone who plays Lineage II. I can only speak for myself and my experiences in the game, which may vary considerably from other players. As I write this letter, I am reminded of an interview by GameSpot back in 2003 with Raoul Kim, then lead game designer for Lineage II. I quote, “RK: While Lineage II is basically intended as a solo-play game, we also gave significant consideration to group play as well. In fact, you can have a lot of fun either way. There are a lot of things to do and a lot of adventures in the game when you play solo. Grouping together with others is much more critical at higher levels of the game. That's when castle sieges occur and when players must group together to overcome high-level monsters. Overall, people can enjoy the game either by playing alone or by playing with others as a group. We made sure that people will have fun in both cases.” I was fortunate to participate in Lineage II’s Closed Beta, Open Beta, and Prelude to going live. Based on those experiences the first character I created was a crafter, and the second was an archer. Through Chronicle 5 I was our clan’s primary crafter for equipment and materials. During this time pro-farmers took control of the markets and made it difficult for normal players to earn their own way without engaging in RMT. I will also say that 3rd party apps have always been part of the game. From dark elf assassins on Talking Island the very first day to near invincible parties in castle sieges, normal players have always had to endure those who bypass legitimate game mechanics in pursuit of their desire to dominate through any means. To be blunt … cheating IS cheating. Enough said about that. In recent years NCSoft/NCWest has tried to administer changes in game mechanics to address what I would call “bad human behavior,” including botting and RMT. The result was a more restrictive gameplay environment for the normal player, and a game market that is out of control. Crafters became irrelevant and most have been deleted or sidelined. I know as I deleted by first character awhile back. The game moved to “Free to Play” and became even worse for players and more players became dependent upon on RMT or paying through the nose for “events” that used to be free to all players. Remember the early Squash events? They were great! I get it that developers were, at some point, trying to “fix” areas that players complained about. But that seems to have been thrown out the window en lieu of a system designed to extract as much revenue as possible out of the player base without providing commensurate game satisfaction. The current state of the game is as bad as I’ve ever seen it. As a clan leader, it is impossible to support the needs of my clan members because we are unable to “farm” or “quest” for what we need. While there is a fast track for leveling a toon up to level 105, organic equipment provided in the game is useless for normal game play. Forget Raoul Kim’s intent for an enjoyable game for all. Forget the opportunity to earn in game rewards or be able to build a character up without spending an inordinate amount of $$$. The element system and vitality system instituted in the past few years has driven the market to a place where many players have no choice but to engage in bad behavior, spend a lot of money, or quit. And believe me, I have personally witnessed this through my own clan members. And it’s frustrating as hell because I do not condone bad behavior. Realizing that this forum has zero chance of instigating any meaningful changes to the game, here are some changes that could benefit the player base and keep this wonderful game alive for years to come: 1. Do away with the vitality system in its entirety. All the vitality system has done is drain the economy as people try to level at a reasonable rate. Adding xp/sp stats to items is fine. All you need to do is create a reasonable exp wall and wallah!, players will engage. It was brutal when the game began, but paying for it is just stupid. 2. Return to a meaningful crafting system and adjust drops appropriately. If you hunt in a 115 area, you shouldn’t be rewarded with 110 level items. That’s building down, not up. You should be rewarded with items that can get you to the next level. 3. If you truly want to make the game effort-based and fair, make items across the board non-tradeable and create a store where people who want to spend money instead of farm for items can do so. It shouldn’t be “either/or.” It’s the only way to make the game RMT free. I’m sure this isn’t popular with many, but that doesn’t make it not true. 4. Balance out the element system. Right now, because people can’t afford gear, they can’t play in the vast majority of hunting areas at their level. I understand making the game a challenge, but making it unplayable isn’t the answer. The game is supposed to appeal to different types of players. 5. Fix the help system by providing more information on game mechanics. In years gone by, fan sites worked hard to build decent data centers so people could figure out what they were doing. Most, if not all, have long since died or are not public. Information sharing is your best friend, whether you accept that or not. Now it’s just a guessing game for most and frustrating. 6. And finally, please bring back some meaningful quests that give good rewards and decent xp if you’re successful. The few instances and a handful of dragons isn’t sufficient to support a wide-ranging player base. Lineage used to have some great storyline-based quests that fed the RPG perspective of the game. Let’s go there again, please. I’m sure there are those that vehemently disagree with some or all of what I’ve presented here. That’s okay. I’m just one person with one point of view. There are only a handful of us left who have been here since before the beginning. We’ve hung in there through all the ups and downs. Why you ask? Because it’s a great game. There are always going to be those that complain, but ignoring everyone to avoid the background noise is not the answer. Time to change your tune to the benefit of all current and future players of Lineage II.
  13. Streaming movie? $9 ... six-pack of beer? $12 ... nice bottle of wine? $30 ... romantic dinner with your honey? $100 ... AND ... chance to get lucky in Lineage2? $250 ... Wow!! I don't blame the GMs because they just do what they're told. But the reality is, there are only two options here. 1. Corporate wants to kill the game enjoyed by thousands of players outside of Korea; 2. Corporate has no understanding of market systems and how to make money. My guess is that it's option 1. It has been a long time since anyone at NCWest has truly engaged this player base or acted as if they cared at all. I really have no idea what goes on in your world GMs, but it clearly has nothing to do with this game. Ultimately it comes down to this ... who is the bigger fool? A GM that works for NCWest or me for continuing to play this game? Please fix your prices, this is absurd.
  14. Just follow the comments. It's obvious who this benefits, and it isn't North American Players. Not everyone plays for swords. Some people play to be with the friends they have had for many many years. There are way more of us than there are of the few who fight over meager resources in this game and the power games that are played. A handful of heroes, a handful of whales, and a whole bunch of normal folks just looking for a diversion away from their daily chores and lives. Raoul Kim was right, and the new world order is wrong. All that has really occurred is that players in North America are getting the shaft and those from BR and Euro get another server to destroy. Good luck with that.
  15. HaHa! The player base in Korea dwarfs all other time zones combined. NCsoft is probably doing us a favor letting us play their game.
  16. As a West Coast player, I have been marginalized by a server that leans towards the eastern time zone. By the time I get off of work, most are already in bed or going to bed. So why in the world would I be sympathetic to a small group of individuals who don't want to play on their own time zone's server, yet choose to petition for changes on a server that is not in their time zone? Furthermore, what's the point of ridiculing those players in another time zone if they don't agree with the proposal? As I stated before, players from another time zone should have no say in what happens on servers in other time zones. And that goes both ways.
  17. NCWest is based in North America. Chronos serves three time zones in North America. It also serves the two time zones in Brazil, though BR players should have their own server imho. But the fact remains that every time a player logs into Chronos server they know that its a North American server. Euro time zones already have a server. In fact, they have servers for Live, Classic and Aden. Like it or not, Euro players have no voice in changing North American event time slots. To think otherwise is simply selfish on their part, the same as if NA players wanted to change Euro event times. I vote no to changing the time. If you want to fix the game as it currently exists to create more competitive players, bring back farming and crafting as well as a small chance for elite item drops. At the same time, kill the Classic and Aden versions of the game. Those other iterations just siphon off players from Live. If you fix the play-ability issues, the players will return.
  18. I'd rather they changed the interface so all I have to do is click one box.
  19. Thx Degus. I don't mind entertainment. I play L2 lol. However, some of the chat simply goes off the rails.
  20. Tell that to my chat box. I've tried every channel and every option. I see hero chat in every chat tab and no option to disable it. If it's there, then color me blind.
  21. @Juji Please give us the ability to disable Hero Chat! I understand that it is supposed to be a privilege. I also understand that most heroes don't abuse it. But the incessant diarrhea of the brain and mouth of those who do IS impacting a welcoming environment for all players. Period. Full stop.
  22. Many good comments on this thread, and some not so good. As has been said, this is a G A M E = entertainment! I've been playing this game as long as anyone on the server, and longer than most who play today. I can say without reservation that I play L2 for the simple reason that I can play the game I want to play. This was the vision that Raoul Kim had when he created the game. Want to PVP, then do so. Want to PVE, then do so. Or do both. It is a game for everyone, no matter those who would call others "randoms" like they would speak of a mutt dog. The issue for me is that over the years the game changed from a pay to play format to a free to play format. By doing so, NC had to create ways to generate revenue to maintain the game and pay their employees. The L2store and in-game events with prize (resource) boxes are designed to raise revenue, not to mention Ncoin itself. In the early days of L2 you could farm for what you needed. That isn't the case any longer. Now NC controls the market by managing the items needed to build a character. It is one of the few games out there where hard work and risk-taking can make you in-game coin. But to engage in the market it takes real dollars and cents (not sense :P). Therefore it's only obvious that people would begin to "value" what they purchased and the "risks" they took clicking a button and either succeeding or failing. For a point of reference, the ability to farm for needed materials was removed because people complained it took too much work. They then paid people to farm for them. Then it became a business. And then normal players who just wanted to play the game were stuck because the number of pro-farmers outnumbered the number of normal players. It made the game unplayable. So NC was forced to change the game to maintain its playability. Now people are complaining again because they can't get things easily without paying for it. Sorry to those of you who fit in that category, but the world doesn't work that way. I'd love to fly a plane, but I can't afford that as a hobby, so I play L2. Andouille has over a trillion adena because he clicks the button more than the vast majority of people I know playing the game do. He spends more money and takes more risks that most are willing to do. As such, he has amassed a quantity of adena that the game itself cannot manage. So his request is a valid one. I personally am not a fan of this new system, but I am sensitive to the fact that if NC can't raise revenue this game will cease to exist. And that would make me sad.
  23. Enough already! You said it yourself, in your own words ... "while clans who have wars can fight allong the way this players in the 14 players clans unless flagged people have to pk them, and as the pk system it is now it is difficult do that." You are saying exactly what I said you were saying. You don't like the fact that you can't engage another players/clans without having to PK them. How is that different from every other day in this game? If I don't want to engage you, you have to kill me and take the consequences. That's why the rules exist. Nobody "has to" engage you. That is the thinking of a bully and a tyrant. End of story.
  24. I haven't been in a castle-owning clan for a number of years. Haven't really cared to participate tbh. However, I have participated in sieges, and at times we were able to take a castle. This conversation is just typical activist thinking here. First, sieges are not, I repeat for the hard of hearing, not a clan war. Any clan that meets the requirement should be able to register for a siege. Period. The idea that an un-registered clan comes on the field and changes the tide for the eventual winner is not new. It has been going on since the sieges began. Clans have paid other clans to be mercenaries for hire to turn the tide. The fact that it's an alt clan to a different clan really doesn't matter. It's about the players. There are always going to be stronger and better players in the game. Get over it. The issue here is that in this new entitlement generation some people believe that they should be able to win even if it means hurting their enemies through external politics, like protesting or petitioning the GMs with a bogus claim. Winning a castle is easy. Just bring the biggest and baddest that you have and take it. If you can't, work harder, make alliances, and if necessary, spend more money. But don't cry because you don't like the outcome, and then take it off the battlefield by griefing the participants of the siege via the clan war system. The siege system and the clan war system are two different things, for a reason. This whole conversation is being propagated by losers, and sore losers at that.
  25. If I interpret what you are trying to say, you're upset because you can't force a war to keep from paying a penalty for PKing other players? Let's set aside who they are for the moment and go through this step by step. I know of no rule, other than level caps, that stops one player from killing another player whenever they want. That's called PKing. If the other player can't or doesn't respond, the attacker can go red. If the attacked chooses to engage, they can go pink and are fair game. So far so good? Now, a clan can declare war on another clan at any time. If not accepted, the cost of dying is 100% death penalty. If accepted by killing 5 players, XP loss is 25% of death penalty. So it seems that it's in the best interest of the attacker to get the other clan to accept. How am I doing so far? During a siege, both registered and non-registered players can lose XP if they die on the siege field. If you enter, then leave the siege field, you can go pink upon exit and be killed without penalty. You don't have to register to come on a siege field, but normal PVP rules apply. High level players who are registered to attack or defend a castle have been showing up at sieges for as along as I've played this game. So if I've gotten all that right, the only conclusion I can come to is that you're upset that you can't force another clan to accept a war and thereby reduce the XP cost in PVP. What am I missing? Oh, it's also been my observation that those who enjoy PKing also love to find ways to do so without it costing them anything.
