You have yourselves to blame for the bots.

You guys complain about it being pay to win, yet a majority of you bought crap tons of adena from sellers when the server first launched, because you couldn't handle the grind/farming. That consequently resulted in a mass influx of bots to keep up with the adena orders.

Just thought I'd point that out.

Not really @Areola there are allways people selling adena/items/etc... for real money, take in example some big illegal server´s, there many people selling stuff for real money but they gring themselfs for those adena/items they earn, ofc they are bots too but nothing compare to official server´s.

The main diference is that illegal server´s Owner are a small company that cares about his players and have allmost 1/2 admins online to take care of server and give support, NCSOFT is a huge company and the efort/asign people to watch server is just a nickel, dont blame @hime or other staff menber is this comunity dont you think they dont read post or know the problem, this problem scales above their payroll.

AND FOR GOD SAKE BAN THESE ANOYING BOTS I CANT EVEN FARM BOOKS FROM MOBS IN IVORY TOWER

@OP, I completely agree. It is simply demand and supply. If people don't buy adena, there will be no bots.

Not true, players bot for personal gain with drops, adena, and exp. Botters are not just adena sellers.

True, but let's face it, players who bot either to support their game play, or to lvl, are way fewer than the actual bots that made real $$ out of the game. Without the actual bots to support the botting software, the developers will abandon it, which in turn will force those players to stop botting too.

It is a complicated system.

There is a great demand for adena and drops:

So, companies employ bots in order to supply adena to players who are willing to buy it for real $

Players also employ bots, in order to get adena and drops

Bots make life difficult for players, specially in quest locations or territories with high demand

On the other side, with current adena & drop rates, bots help to the reduction of prices. Some weapons, armors or mats would be much more expensive if there were no bot to farm them in great quantities.

So there is a trade off....

Obviously the problem is NCSOFT not policing its servers, combined with them drastically lowering the adena drop rates, making this server prime for adena selling.  Of course people are going to always look for an edge, authority is needed.

Its like taking the refs out of sports then when players are cheating more, you then try to convince everyone the reason cheating increased has nothing to do with the refs missing.

Ncwest is obviously policing their servers or we wouldn't be getting "OMGZ I WAS BANNED FOR NO REASON!!!" posts. If ncwest wasn't policing the server at all there would be vastly more bots running around. As it stands now when a bot is banned the botter has a replacement running in a matter of minutes. It's hard to keep up with that and some of the policies they've put in place to try to slow that causes some new legit accounts to be temporarily locked. I do believe that NCwest could do a better job of catching the botters but that would require them to hire more people and ncsoft doesn't want to invest the money to do so. NCsoft would rather coast off the p2w aspects of various cash shops because it's more profitable in the short term. The company has always had issues with it's focus on the short term over the long term. That's why Aion went from a legitimate WoW killer to a joke in a matter of months...
