They can never please everyone...

Recommended Posts

So many of you complain, however there is no silver bullet to make this game satisfy everyone.  Whatever NCsoft does will make some people happy and some people mad.  There is no win for NCSoft when it comes to making tweaks.  Purists say, "You aren't Classic" anymore.  What that means in their mind is, that this version is like the original version.  Instead NCSoft continues to try and tweak the game to make it difficult and challenging for those that want that experience, while at the same time appealing to other players that want things easier.

It takes money and resources to run and update this game, so NCSoft, just like every other business out there has to make a profit or it will go away.  So again, they try to tweak the game to make it free for those who choose not to pay, or for those that can pay to do so.  It is simple business economics, because without revenue, the game goes away.

Me personally, I don't like the gambling aspect of the events.  I don't gamble in casinos and I don't like gambling here.  I would like to know that if I spend $100, $300, $500 whatever the amount on Ncoin, that I get something for that.  I don't want just a chance to win something.  Yesterday, I got a Special fruit buff for 20 minutes.  I don't want to spend real money on that, when my box buffers can give that to me.  So for me, I won't participate in this event.

NCsoft is making the business decisions right for them, as every business should do.  They will continue down the path of their choosing, and we as customers can choose to participate or not.

Here is my suggestion to the developers and product managers:

1. Make items able to be purchased in the store.  For example, Top B grade sword $50, Top A Grade Sword $100, Top S Grade Sword $200.  Armor same scaling, Jewelry, Recipes, Enchant scrolls, etc.  With the low adena drop rate, this will allow more money for Soul and Spirit Shots

People will complain that only those with money can win.  I say, not true.  Everything is still craftable, farmable and available to everyone if you play the game hard and the way it was first created.  It may take you longer to catch up, but it is possible.

Off my soapbox now.  Let the flames begin.

Isn't that a bit too cheap, though? Knowing NCsoft, I would expect a $50 for top B, $500 for top A, and $5000 for top S, if the money comes from players gambling.

"Netmarble’s Lineage 2: Revolution crossed $1 billion in revenue in first year"

As you can see why would this company care that much about the PC gaming market ?!

I bet Lineage 2 has a tiny develop team assigned to do stuff. Reason why most events are RNG/Gambling focused.

If NCSOFT really wanted to deliver a quality server, without bots and pay to win stuff, they could, BUT the amount of profit in return would not be "good" for them compared to the resources allocated and if those same resources were put in the mobile market.

..and, OP ( like people ) is the reason why NcSoft keeps making their games P2W casinos. They don't mind spending hundreds of $ on stuff. They are the best pla.. I mean whales NcSoft cares about.

I .. just came back to L2 "Classic" , because now you can ..freely "bot".

Until yesterday I was severely against botting... but then I realized that there is no possibility to explain to people that if you have a "Hunt 300 mobs quest" done by 8 people in the same party you'll do the quest in 20-40 minutes tops and you can actually enjoy the game the way it was originally intended. And since I want to have 3-4 characters to play with [ nuker, elven oracle, prophet, I didn't decide on the last one yet ] I will have to do the boring escalator quests fighting for mobs with a bunch of bots because all the interesting quests are gone, all the old fun dungeons are gone. Seriously: A semi-functional fun-server had this amount of entertainment. And they were mostly coded by people not employed by NCSoft. Are you telling me a bunch of hobbyists can simply replicate work done by people getting paid for their jobs?

No. Make the old dungeons available and leave the "Items purchasable in a store" for the non-classic servers or leave it away in general.

Also: I understand that most of eastern Asia is hooked up on gambling the way a heroin addict is hooked up on his next fix. We get it. It would still be nice to have some options not to pay real money to basically get spat in the face.
