MataHariii
Hello, boys and girls. I recently came back to l2 after a very long brake...~13years. I noticed that everything what i experienced back then, now are changed dramaticly. I saw an interesting discussion today about mage weapons and best use. So a lot of players aperantly are using two handed staff for their dps mages, which made me think if i am missing something here with my gear set up? My norm was always one hand weapon+shield. Wondering what are your thoughts in regards to this? Thanks a lot in advance for those who can share some personal experience about this
Ingwaz
Hi. I used to always go for one handed and shield back when i was playing too. That was done in order to get the castimg speed SA that only one-handed weapons had. Now in this server SA are not weapon specific and any SA goes on any weapon. With the large number of items u can get here u can max out casting speed anyway. It has become a nuker server. U want to have as much m atk as possible so 2H staffs are the best option now. The shield wouldnt block that much anyway and ita only a cosmetic item for mages now. Go for top 2H staff for that m atk basically
ExExE
Just look at the mAtk and price. Staff are in high demand so one hand wep makes a better buy. It is all about price and mAtack. One thing to consider is that its alot cheaper to put sa on b grade then a grade weapon.
Mprt
back in the days... one handed weapons had acumen SA, and even when they gave the branch of the mother tree acumen, it was never used because it was the same matt as top one handed, and shields even on a mage could offer very limited arrow protection, it wasn't until much later that they increased the matt of the staff, and by then s grade was common, and imperal staff didn't have acumen. (daimoncrystal might have had acumen as well, but that was also much later) once again L2 classic cherry picking what they implement in game, I miss the DC, SOM, IC shield set up on a nuker
MataHariii
Yeah, i kinda missed out on this info. But still, is it worth loosing ~250 p.def from shield over ~ 15 m.atack with 2h. staff? Anyway missed out info about one handed weapons such as Themis thong or Cabrios hand. I went with SOM and realized its not top weapon anymore?♂️ ?. P.S i play solo without a support, so somehow im still convinced, surely shield would be better for such playstyle? Or perhaps i realy need to start doing my homework before i waste my adena on useless and old school items ?♂️
