Classic it's unplayable for newcomers

Recommended Posts

As a longterm player of Lineage 2 since C1 and returning after 7 years of not playing, I just want to say that you bleeped the game.

I won't mention all the new stuff that it's not even related to classic, honestly I don't care, the game must progress somehow and NC needs to cashout.

But honestly, what the bleep have you've done with the newcomers progression? I have 3 characters and I can't even afford to buy these generic shots for my dps. I can't sell the scrap I've gathered leveling because they are worth 0 adena now.

How I'm supossed to make adena? Just picking up? Where's the crafting? Where's the low level marketplace of this game?

I can't keep leveling up.

You bleeped the game.

You answered the question in your statements and question.  Buy NCoin so they make money; use the Ncoin to buy Shots.  Buy enough NCoin and get VIP bonuses.  Buy enough Ncoin for VIP10, and get all sorts of goodies.  Either way, pay so they make money to keep the servers open.

There are also events.  The Hat event they are running now, a lot of people just made +10 hats for around $100  I like the improved success rate that NCSoft implemented.  I hope they keep it for upcoming events.

As you play, if you want to be competitive and not just a meat shield, then you will need Talisman's, Agathions, and better gear, which takes more Ncoin, which takes you spending real dollars to buy, which again, keeps the server alive.

A free market society sure can be pesky can't it, when people want everything from a socialistic market (ie free and handed to them)?

Your understanding of economic theory is basically nonexistent as evidenced by the ignorance in that simple quote. Please keep your uninformed beefs to a relevant forum and focus on the game here.

@Fantasmic1 This statement right here is all you need to know about the current state of the game. To the above person blowing $100 on a chance to get one decent item is totally fair and within the realm of the classic experience. Of course this repeats every other month so you end up paying more a year for 1 account than I did for 3 accounts during the real classic era. To keep VIP 10 you have to pay more per month than I paid for my 5 account subscriptions during real classic. All for what? A neutered experience that pretends to be classic (with GoD based gameplay/stats) while having almost none of the classic content.

Basically your only real chance to get anywhere outside of the p2w casino is to AFK box at least one full party 24/7 so you can build up enough funds to cover B grade costs. With a proper composition a 9 man team can farm pretty well without shots. Having said that you're going to need quite a lot of luck. Bots have infested every decent leveling area up to the 80s. Making this situation worse is the lack of decent leveling areas in general. There's a LOT of the map not being used at all because of gameplay design choices. If you don't bot then there are level ranges where you have maybe two choices of leveling areas. It's pretty terrible.

Crafting is almost non-existent due to "game balance" changes.

The low level marketplace is non existent below C grade. The best bang for the buck right now is B grade and I consider that the "low level marketplace" now. Highly Over Enchanted C weapons can be cheaper in the long run due to using 1 shot instead of B grade's 2 shots. Alas they (OE C-grade) do come with hefty price tags.

"end game" doesn't get any better as most high level places hit so hard that even the whales struggle to level there. It's sad how vacant some areas are.. nothing like classic at all.

Just play another game, for real. Spend your hundred bucks on another game. This simply does not worth. Trust me. Not even your free to play time.

If you are willing to spend your real time here instead of boxing a full pt like upper comments for auto-hunt, play something else. Not this classic.

I've been assuming the mat costs were changed in relation to the announced crafting update, but it seems they went ahead and nerfed it before the system was implemented. Same thing with fishing. I'm still holding out on the changes and probably the next patch at this point.

I suggest and you basically have to get the starter packs, but it will easily last you to 70+ for a reasonable price. Also check the adena shop for cheaper shots and ores, but the starter pack will last you quite a bit.

Just get the high grade pack for $10 or so.

Thanks everyone for your responses! Honestly, I appreciate the support on this matter, besides the poor economics explanation that Reelthrill gave, clearly stating that the current state of the game it's pay to win or go play another game.

It's hard to believe the current state of NC, but seems that they just want to cashout no matter what, even if that affects the low level experience and forcing gamers to buy NC Coins just to level up.

It's awful to see on what they have become and repelling new players just because they play free, I'll just hang around to see the upcoming patch as Pradaya said, but I don't have much hope to be honest.

The vendor price changes were recent. It wasn't always like that and so much has changed since launch. They still give you free c duals that don't need shots until 40+.

Keep in mind this game used to have a subscription. If you want a subscription you go back farming a month for top NG. I don't think it's that fun and those illegal servers aren't that glamorous either. An initial $20 investment for the starter pack will last you a long time and will get you settled in. I don't think it's much. The very top end is absurd, but you still expect L2 to be L2. Most classic players probably never even got 70+ anyways.

Last I saw the majority of NcSoft's income is coming in from their mobile games. The PC game income is a tiny fraction in comparison. That's probably why classic got the mobile like UI change and they continue to push monetization.

To their credit NcWest has gotten some changes in that help a bit. If you're serious about giving the game a try then the starter packs are well worth the minor investment in NcCoins. Just consider the NcCoin purchase as a buy in for the game.

take it easy man! with 3 char u will need 1 pp 1 archer 1 tanker , for archer equip good weapon only, gear will be the free one. For tank buy good gear for him only use cheap weapon ( use aggressive) and fight mob 7-8lvl lower than you , dont use SS . You will be fine, at lvl35 u can try farming skill book and amulet in sea of spores , sell your L2 coint as melody scroll or 30% xp scroll (on tank only) save on pp and archer for quiver C and B .....there you go

I stand behind my comments.  How many times have you and others been asked for free items from other players trying to level up?  How many complaints on here that it is too hard or too expensive to get things?  How many people on here say they want things easier or handed to them?  Maybe not in those words, but their point is clear.  Too many people want instant gratification or things handed to them, and on that we can agree to disagree.

There are lots of threads on the questions the OP placed and the answers are the same.  Setup a bot party to farm an area 24/7 with no soulshots.  Save money and hopefully one day you have enough to buy decent gear.  Or buy items of value in the NCsoft events with NCoin and sell those items in Giran for adena.  No matter what you do, you have to pay NCSoft to be competitive and for NCSoft to keep the game alive.
