Percentage Chance of item

Recommended Posts

Juji,

Can you please post the percentage chance of getting items from opening boxes.

I opened over 10k boxes and I didnt get one Dragon Weapon or Dragon Bow or God Jewel.

I understand the chances are low, and that is expected but not 1 in 10,000 when it costs so much to buy them.

I have spent about $7500 each of the past couple events, trying to legitimately get top weapons.

I have been offered a stage 2 Dragon weapon for $5k, but I do not engage in these kinds of Real Money transactions.

The point I am trying to make is that, I understand low chances, but this is ridiculous.

@whatif - thank you for your comments but it doesn't address the issue that the rates are ridiculously low.

I expect to have a reasonable chance to get a top item. 1 in 10,000 is not reasonable, and 1 in 10,000 on 3 events is even more so.

Its completely korean random even worse than a slot maachine.

I open 2 packs in total (because i bought the wrong one first time so need to buy 2 get the vital rune) first box I open i got tauti ring im like wow this going to be good.

150 boxes got a lot of vit items which will help me during this event and enough stuff to sell to break even on the boxes but the Tauti ring was only decent item i received.

So how is that for random first box epic jewel, rest 149 are a bust.  Yea random.

Of course its a gamble, but even Las Vegas tells you the odds. Gambling means there is a reasonable chance you will get an item. I have shown that the odds are not reasonable and I am asking for them to be posted. If NCsoft wont post them, then they are hiding how ridiculously low they are.

Changing the subject to buying in game items with outside real money transfers just deflects the question and provides no real value.

I am an honest player who buys from the L2 store. When i apply a enchant to a weapon or armor i know what the risk is.

Why is NCsoft hiding on this????

I been to the 2 big mega gambling capitals in US Vegas and AC neither post odds especially on their slot machines.

But the gaming regulators in these two states state the only 2 games where the house doesn't win at majority of the time. 1.  Blackjack (as it is a game of skill actually with probability and not luck plays more favor-ability) and video poker (because how many opportunities there is to win if you play).  Everything else has odds in the house favor and they are not posted anywhere so no clue where you got that from because they do it undermines their business.

There are 52 cards and and with craps and other games there are certain numbers that you can see and people have calculated because it is visible. You can find the info.

Not so with NCSoft. Its hidden, its a mystery. They dont make it visible. I am asking for the numbers, they are programmed, share the data.

So what's is the chance of slot machine and where is it posted?

Probability is not the same as chance.  Your comparing apples to oranges.

Mystery boxes = Slot machines.  No where has that ever been posted.  All the gaming commission tests is to make sure there is a chance of payout, not if actually pays out.

You want to get technical you have win every time you open a box since you never receive nothing and that is 100% payout even casinos never guarantee that and this is last I will say on this because I do not need to get banned getting into argument about odds and probability with a person that does not understand the laws of gaming.

No one has to because at least in the US virtual goods are not seen as being owned by the gamer but the company providing access to the game.  So if you do not like food that is being served go somewhere else no one is making you buy a box.  It is like telling someone this store sells chicken but ask them where is their beef, and go we do not sell beef if you want beef go somewhere you know you can get it.

I hope the $7,500 you spent on this game was mad money because in this economy that is a bad investment if it was money that could be used towards tangible property.

Unless the slots are rigged (witch is illegal) the odds are calculable as well. In some of them they are even posted on the machine, although its not that common.

odds of a payout and winning big are two different things.  Yes you can put a dollar in and win a quarter back.  You still win didn't you?  Casinos would not function if it wasn't a profit making factory.  Think of it this way you start with $100.00 bucks and you pull the leverl 100 times but after 2 hours you lost all your money but won 91 times.... Still won 91 times?

NCsoft guarantees you win on every box, 100% payout, so how is it any different that respect?

Again, you seem to miss completely the point of this thread.

The problem here is not what you get, is knowing the chances of you winning it. And yes, you do know the chances of winning big in a casino. It is illegal for someone to operate some sort of gambling product without any info on their chances.

There is a reason to why this type of boxes were banned in most of the civilized countries around the world. Even in Korea they were forced to redo their events and publish some sort of chances to the items in their boxes.

Things on NCSoft West work differently.  They don't care what's their community says, the only thing they are worried is money. And that's why this issue will continue until some lawsuits start to drop on their offices. Then you will see a very concerned Juji talking about changes in their policies, probably will even say that it's because of feedback from the community.

All legal casinos are obliged to post the payout for each game on the slot machines.. The RDFM rule applies here (read the manual)...

Payout is a percentage of the money that will be returned to players for an x amount.. 90% payout means that for 100 dollars, 90 will be returned to players and not that you will win in 90% of the spins.. Ofc 90% doesn't also mean that every player will win 90 dollars for his 100 dollars.. It means that at the end of the month the casino will have returned 90% of all the cash in.. If we are talking about millions, you can understand that 10% profit is too much...

I agree with OP that chances should be posted by NC.. However, i cannot help to think that spending so much money without visibility certainly helps the company to continue with their policy, since it is so effective..

And on the other hand, this randomness and this difficulty to obtain top items with crazy spending seems like it's a protection for the not rich players, which is actually the 99% of the players in here.. I am not judging anyone for the ways that he/she desired to spend his money, but this is my opinion on a public forum..

first of all i think you are just Complaining and Surely Lieing about someone offering u a stage 2 Weapons for 5000$ ,   and second we can check rates in Korea site sometimes, it gives u an idea, its like 1/100 000   1/ 1 000 000 for the TOP rewards,   these rewards are made to be gotten by 1-2 person during the whole event only! it's a lottery,

Many ppl got back their money from reselling all the  loots from inside the boxes some ppl got back 50-60-70% ,, its gambling, u try ur luck and find out :)

The probabilities, the luck... the difficulty to getting good stuff (items, events, drops ...) can be exciting things, but it's another to spend so much in the hope of getting good items. The politics of NC West,  it's  just  that the rates  would be very low, and the top items  would be almost inaccessible, but NC West must surely think that everyone takes too much pleasure in rowing to have everything, and just as much difficulty in having peanuts, and ppl not feeling where the money is going , it's  aggravated, by pulling too much on the rope it ends up breaking.

@m0daIt's over the long term that the figures are verified, and not over 1 month, and the big difference with the casino, the lotto ... where you have to put money to play, and that L2 it's free, nothing obliges you to put money for to buy items, but for really enjoy it , you  have to pay (pay for the pleasure, pay for the fun) it's like going to an ice cream seller, the cone is free but you have no ice cream ....but which are very close at the same time, the finality is the same , just the approach which is different, It's not clear, the blur  in terms of legislation and the strong incentive that changes everything !
