I was pretty confused about this too. “Classic” is the name of an expansion but I always envisioned it being a remastered C1 or exactly like some other early expansion. There are several things that bug me, such as the map having areas that didn’t exist in the chronicle it claims to be. However, all in all they did a great job but there’s definitely a void that’s not being filled if you were expecting to take a time portal back to 2004.
