Lost over 4% on death

So i hit 41 and wanted to de level and so right after hitting 41 I hit this raid boss next to me and died. I went from level 41 with 0.01% to level 40 with 95.3%

 

I also have VIP 4 and should only be losing 3.2% so why would I lose OVER 4%?

just tested on my other character also VIP 4 and lose about 4.5%

 

I think VIP 4 is making you lose 20% more xp and not less LOL

As you level up, the exp you need to achieve the next level increases, so 4% of level 41 is more than 4% of level 40. That's why when you delevel you lose a little bit more than 4%
