Poor rewards or poor reward probability from random boxes has the opposite effect on long term.
If the reward was for example 200 lamps I would have tried it.
It would cost Ncsoft nothing but it would motivate me to try.
Same with boxes from shops. If decent prize is 5% chance ppl will try. If it is 0.0001% ppl will try once or twice and then stop.
Simple marketing.

The npc tells you which skill he modifies but it is usually the strongest
Port in, pop all the scrolls and sayha etc, apply auto pot to % you want, talk to npc, use modified skill then next target then repeat.
If difficult, kite, gather, aoe.

It is buffing that you guys take this game seriously. It is clear that, like almost all Korean games, it's just about the money. They do not hire programmers, only psychologists and psychiatrists.
How many more decades of L2 do you need to understand that? Stockholm syndrome runs real deep.
