So... is anyone aware of these breaking news? I think it will be a massive upgrade to the game.

There was a post last year about work on UE 4 on lineage 2 by some russian fan group in some community forums.
there is a video ,and some testing .

Yeah but this has nothing to do with the official servers. His work on it is for illegal servers i guess

making the game look better wont make it less pay to win or more fun to play no one is coming back cuz ncsoft put too much pay to win in.

That engine can handle properly large scale fights like epic raids or 200vs200 pvp?

less then 200 live people are on each server atm

People do not really important from game engine point of view, the number of characters online/moving at the same place is the factor here, 200 people can log in 4k char.

I remember when we had those cake events with 2k char in elven village, there was large lag and we cannot really move and I fear the better the graphics the worse it may get. However I am not an expert so I honestly curious about the opinion what advantage a new engine would offer next to the "shiny graphics".

Lineage 2 Remastered seems to be a real project in the works at NCSoft, according to a job opening listed on the company's careers page (first spotted by Reddit user Dylandel).

NCSoft is looking for a Technical Artist with expertise in Unreal Engine 4 Blueprint and Unreal Engine 4 material and custom shader. Despite the lack of an official announcement (NCSoft didn't appear at G-Star 2019), it really looks like Lineage 2 Remastered is going to be a massive overhaul project, one that has not been attempted before. The original game, launched sixteen years ago in South Korea, was based on the Unreal Engine 2.5.

There's literally no way to do this without 100% rebuilding the game from the ground up.

It would be a truly massive investment which NC will absolutely refuse to go in on when the potential for profit would be so infinitesimal on such an old game that has LONG since seen it's best times come and gone.
