Gathering Info for LAG and Launcher issues

@Hermes

I am one of many affected for LAG, Launcher issues, random disconnections

After contacting NCSoft and my ISP I noticed there is a lot of connection packet loss, not on my local ISP nor in L2 servers, but in between hop connection servers.

This after running the WinRTM tool suggested by L2 support

I run the tool many times after restarting PC, restarting modem, opening ports, calling ISP, etc... and the tool always shows the same, packet loss in between.

Here is an extract of the tool log to show what I say.

At least 3 of the IP.TWELVE99.NET hops show 48% to 97% packet loss !!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have searched in Google and those nodes seems to have HEAVY TRAFFIC these days, hence connectivity issues for me

Can you test your connections with WinMTR using the following address to compare if you have similar hop nodes packet loss?

icmp.us.ncwest.com

Guess L2 support can use the information gathered to improve in some way our game stability

You dont need some kind of tool from 2005 ,

Directly ping through cmd to amazon server and you will see your latency and ping between you and server,

Exact IP you can also find through cmd when you are in game , instead of using port (icmp.us.ncwest.com) as it just slows down your test as its not direct connection.

On top of that, kindly check before splitting the traffic and traction this issue is getting.

There is another post and another GM was trying to gather information in regards.

On top of top of that... Please check date of posts creation before commenting, did you notice my post was created last Saturday and GM post was created just some hours ago?

So where is the splitting traffic and traction intention you talk about?

I'm terribly sorry, didn't mean to misjudge you, plus your thread could actually help as it far more technical than just complaining about lag spikes.

I was referring to the post with awkward title "LAG" in General Discussion that is older than both, and within there is the post of the GM.

That post had accumulated 42 replies, 1.5k views (as of 15th Nov) and was created on 3rd Nov.

Again, no mean to create fuss between us players, just want to crank up the heat for the GM's to figure this out and compensate us properly and accordingly.

I personally have lost more a weeks worth farming due to DC and other interference .

No worries, just wanted to clarify, and as a suggestion to GM I guess it would be more helpful to add the results of the tool I mentioned at the beginning as one of the items to be answered listed on the GM post.

The more information we gather, the more narrow and isolated the issue origin will be

Well.. I can see, we need to learn how to read trace routes..

|                             10.255.0.35 -    1 | 1146 | 1145 |    2 |    3 |   28 |    3 |

|                             10.255.0.49 -    1 | 1131 | 1126 |    3 |   17 |  379 |    4 |

|                            8.243.188.73 -    0 | 1150 | 1150 |    5 |    9 |   52 |   31 |

your starting packets above. 1150

your ending packets below.

                  64.25.32-26.ncsoft.com -    1 | 1119 | 1111 |  135 |  137 |  176 |  136 |

1135 from 1150 is not a huge amount of packet loss.  The loss you see in a trace, is mostly due to control plane policers. Every ISP uses them.  ICMP and Traceroute packets, with the destination of the device, are set to the lowest priority and will see loss/latency and jitter. This will not affect packets that pass thru the device, only those directed at it.

That being said.

|                            8.243.188.73 -    0 | 1150 | 1150 |    5 |    9 |   52 |   31 |

             mai-b2-link.ip.twelve99.net -    1 | 1131 | 1126 |  102 |  104 |  208 |  103 |

|            atl-b24-link.ip.twelve99.net -    1 | 1135 | 1131 |  117 |  118 |  158 |  118 |

|            atl-bb1-link.ip.twelve99.net -   48 |  398 |  208 |  117 |  119 |  130 |  119 |

Looks like Twelve 99 has a latency issue from Miami to Atlanta that needs to be addressed. This could be from the hurricane and the storms that just rolled thru. They may have had to roll traffic over to other lines, causing saturation.

Nothing NC Soft can do about this guys. They are just waiting on Twelve 99 to fix their damaged fiber lines in the area.

I'm not trying to take their side, I am just using common sense.
