PRESTIGE PACK Drop Rate Math Question!

Kaloba

Recommended Posts

Hello all!

I am a new player and would like to purchase the 'Prestige Pack'.

Reading the description of the signature contains the following information:

  • Increases Item drop rate +100%

  • Increases Spoil drop rate +100%

My question is a bit complex.

A particular item, for example, has the following chance of falling into a monster: 0.001% - 0.005%

With the package then the chance of 'drop' of this same item would be 100% more, ie it would be 100.001%.

Mathematically an item that 'drops' in this percentage (100.001%) means that every time I kill the monster I will get the item.

Is that so?

Can someone who owns the package or someone on the team enlighten me?

Are you sure friend? In the website is '+' not 'x'...

But, I think +100% will be overkill

You have the 'prestige pack'? @LightRider

Yes I do. It is a simple math problem.

Wouldn't it be .001% + 100% = .002%  ??

No. You are dealing with different percentages with different decimal points.

If you add 100% over some value this will be plus 100%. In your example, it would be:

0.001 % + 100.000 % = 100.001 %

And when you get 100% chance of 'drop' some item. You ALWAYS will drop that...

So I made this question to help me understand how the system works...

The other player is talking about 0.001 x 100 = 0.010 % and I have the impression it would be: 0.001 % + 100.000 % = 100.001 %

100% of .001 is adding another .001 period

100% of 50 is adding another 50 for a total of 100.

adding 100% drop rate for a .001% drop turns the drop rate into a .002%

Am i wrong on this according to NCsoft math?

Bro, they would not sell an item in this game that would give you a chance to get all the items that a mob drops since a mob typically has multiple items in their drop table, with your math you are implying you have 100.001% chance that everything will drop from a mob. With my math which I believe is correct is you have a higher chance for items to drop by 0.10% if the drop rate is at a base of 0.001%.

@Juji Can you back me up on this and provide the correct math if I am wrong.

You can argue about 0.10 or 0.02 being the value with rune in that example, which I always have figured at 0.100 based on the math I know ie if you are dealing with percentages a 100% increase in chance is moving decimal points, in this case 2 decimal points from 0.001 to 0.100.

What I can absolutely tell you is no, you will not have 100.01 "always get that item" chance. I run with 200% drop rate consistently I would be richer then my dreams in L2 if that was the case, lol.

Your math is..... amazing

0.001+100% of the multiplied value is 0.002. Technically if you multiply by 100%, you're multiplying by 1, which will return the same value.

In this case it's addition of 100% of the initial value (0.001).

Therefore:

0.001 x 200% = 0.002

or

0.001 + 0.001 = 0.002

Thanks! As I say before (I am a new player) and I just want to be sure about the % of prestige...

Thanks all. Now I got it :)

Another question: Does it apply only to the player who owns the package or will everyone in the 'party' have the benefit? Is it something individual only?

@LightRider @BeckyBuilder @mixa @Srelock @degamad

The bonus will be divided between all the party members. If you got a 300% adena drop rune and you are in a 2 ppl party its like you both would have a 150% bonus, 3 ppl pt -> 100% bouns...

In your 0.001 drop chance example, in a 3 ppl party with one of you having a +100% drop rune, the actual chance of get the item will be 0.0013333... Almost the same chance.

The +300% adena bonus helps a little bit, but the only worthy item on that pack is the Eva's Rune with the -20% cooldown and +10% hp.
